Our lives are like a vapor, ephemeral, fleeting. Our human pursuits of wisdom and knowledge all lead to sorrow. By comparison, God's wisdom and sovereignty are eternal. His gifts, like a vapor, are are given freely to us but for a time. We must enjoy them while he provides them, and rest in his provision! If we're truly wise, we'll walk by faith, not striving to control our destiny, as that is vanity... but handing over that control to our eternal, loving God!
