B-Side - Mark 5:21-43

The stories of Jairus's daughter and the woman with the issue of blood are told together, and intertwined. The girl was 12 years old, and the woman's issue of blood had lasted 12 years. The girl experienced death, and due to Levitical laws, the woman was associated with death for 12 years. Both the woman and Jairus were desperate for healing, and Jesus's touch healed them both!

Jairus may have been an acquaintance of Peter's, or was simply well-known due to his status as a leader in the synagogue. The woman with the issue of blood, however, would have been an outcast. Jesus cares for them both!

Jesus tells Jairus, "Do not fear, only believe!" The little girl was blessed to have a father who believed in Jesus.

When Jesus said the little girl was not dead but only sleeping, the mourners turned to laughing, scoffing. After he brings her back to life, he tells everyone not to share that he has this power over death, because that news would hasten his crucifixion, and his time has not yet come.
